100% Marquette; Various MN Vineyards (Deardorff/Parley Lake, Hinterland, Oakshire)

Wine Tasting Notes

Parley Lake Marquette Rose has black cherry and vanilla aromas with layered levels of complex flavors. Its long finish is accented with a hint of smokiness.

Food Pairing Notes

Parley Lake Marquette Rose pairs beautifully with lamb, roast duck, NY Strip Steak and even blackened walleye. Goat cheese, brie, walnuts and Creme Brulee also pair well.

Grape Background

The Marquette grape was released as a new hybrid by the University of Minnesota to much fanfare in 2006. The grape is based on Pinot Noir and integrates with barrel aging very well. It can be made into a medium to more intense still red wine with a full spectrum of oak aging from light to long.

Wine Maker's Notes

We harvest our Marquette grapes on or around late September each year. The 2012 harvest saw us bring our grapes in off the vines between September 8-20. We de-stemmed, crushed and started fermentation with BM4x4 yeast. After 10 days of fermentation on the skins, the wine was pressed and racked twice before being racked into barrels between November and December 2012. Aged in one barrel (B-27) for 34 months makes it our longest aged Marquette to date.
