Grape Background
Brianna is a grape that was created by Elmer Swenson (the Godfather of Cold Climate Grapes) and named by Ed Swanson of Cuthills Vineyard in Pierce, Nebraska. We get our Brianna grapes from Tim Nissan of Westfalia Vineyards / Nissan Wines in Hartington, Nebraska. Tim has become a close friend as he has bottled most of our wine with his mobile bottling line that he brings to our winery. We are proud to partner on this wine with him. We have won 4 Gold medals and 5 Silver medals in National wine competitions.
Wine Maker's Notes
We receive our Brianna grapes in mid August each year, making it the first grape and wine of every harvest. We harvest a bit earlier to create a lighter wine as well as to keep the labrusca flavors which are a part of the grape (from the hybridization) from coming through in the wine.
